My 13 y/o daughter rides weekly at a training center. Lately, they have been training for an upcoming show, and practicing their jumps with the crossrails. This particular day, I think the horse had other ideas, and proceeded through the jump but at a slight angle. Which allowed her to fall off mid-jump. This produced, since both were in the air, a fall with a double head bounce to the ground.
End result, a rockin headache for days and 5 hours in ER. Concussion! I am so grateful it wasnt worse but more relieved that the trusty helmet did its job. I am a firm believer in safety and these kids riding with their helmets on, properly fitted.
